Crab gravy is the spicy gravy. This HOT and spicy gravy tastes good. It goes well with rice. We specially make this gravy in rainy season which is also season for crabs (வயல் நண்டு) We don't get this crabs in any other season. We used to get it in farms (வயல்) and play with this small crabs in my childhood, we tie the legs of it using a long thread and play with it for hours. All the old childhood memories stay in my heart..

What we need :
crabs (வயல் நண்டு) - 1kg
Tamarind- 1 big lemon sized
Onion- 1
Tomato- 1
Chilli powder-2tbsp
Turmeric powder- 1tsp
Salt as needed
Oil for seasoning
Water as needed
To grind :
Garlic pods- handful
Pepper powder- 1 or 2tbsp
METHOD:
Clean the crabs thoroughly. Wash twice in clean water to get out of the sand in it.
Soak the tamarind in water for few minutes.
Meanwhile chop the onion, tomato and grind the ingredients given under to grind with lil water and keep aside.
Now squeeze the tamarind water from the tamarind pulp with the water needed.
Add chilli powder, turmeric powder and salt to it. Mix well.
Keep a kadai in heat, add in oil, mustard seeds. Let it sizzle, now add in onions chopped and saute. Then add in tomatoes chopped.
Saute for a minute and add the grinded pepper and garlic to it, saute.
Add in the tamarind water fully. Let it boil and get thick , now add in the crabs and mix it.
Leave it to boil for few more minutes, after it turns to a thick gravy switch off the flame.
SERVE HOT!!
NOTE: change the chilli powder amount according to UR taste.
