GONGURA THOKKU/ PULICHA KEERAI THOKKU


GONGURA is called as pulicha keerai in tamil. It is sour in taste. It is different from all and has unique taste. I like it very much. We prepare thokku/ pickle using it. It will taste good with rice.. here is the recipe with step by step pictures, check out.. try it and give feedbacks!!

PREPARATION TIME: 10 MINUTES 
COOKING TIME: 20 MINUTES 
SERVES: 5 to 6 PERSON 

WHAT WE NEED: 
Gongura -2 cups
Red chillies- 15
Coriander seeds- 2tbsp 
Urad dal- 2tbsp 
Whole peppercorns- 2tbsp 
Cumin- 2tsp 
Fenugreek- 1tsp

For seasoning:
Oil
Mustard seeds- 1tsp
Cumin- 1tsp 
Urad dal- 2tsp

METHOD:
Take all the ingredients. Wash the Gongura leaves.




Roast all the dry ingredients one by one. Coriander seeds, urad dal, red chillies. 




Then Pepper, Fenugreek, cumin. Add Gongura and saute for few minutes. 
Add all the dry ingredients,salt and blend it.




Now add in gonkura and blend it smoothly. 
Heat a pan add oil and seasonings. Let it sizzle. 
Now add in the grinded paste. Saute for few minutes. 



Switch off the flame.
Ready to serve with rice, chapati, dosa!!

  1. Gongura Pickle / Ambade ka achar is one of my favorite pickles. Especially the pickle made in Andhra style has an everlasting taste. Thank you for showing the delicious recipe. I will definitely try this weekend.
