GARLIC RASAM / POONDU RASAM





GARLIC RASAM / POONDU RASAM is a common RASAM made very easily at our home. Garlic rasam is good for digestion. Having it in the rainy season, it relieves cold. Rice...RASAM...appalam.. here is the recipe..

Preparation time: 5 minutes
Cooking time: 15minutes 
Serves : 4 

What we need: 
Tamarind- small lemon sized 
Tomato- 1 
RASAM powder- 1tbsp 
Turmeric powder- 1tsp 
Asafoetida powder-1tsp
Salt as needed 
Curry leaves - handful
Coriander leaves- handful 
Garlic pods- 10 crushed 
Water as needed.

For seasoning: 
Oil - 1tsp 
Mustard seeds- 1tsp 
Cumin - 1tsp 
Red chilli-1 

METHOD: 
Soak tamarind in a bowl. 
Take 2 cups of water in another bowl. Add the tomato and crush it well. 
Add salt, turmeric powder, RASAM powder, asafoetida.
Now squeeze the tamarind pulp. 
Add it to the bowl, add crushed garlic, curry leaves, coriander leaves.
Heat a kadai, add oil, add all the seasoning. Let it sizzle, add it to the RASAM and keep it in flame now. Leave it for few minutes, when the bubbles coming before it starts to boil, switch off the flame. 

Note: do not leave it to boil. 

Garlic RASAM is READY now!!!
