SAMBAR RICE


Sambar rice is the combination of rice, dal and veggies of ur choice with the flavour of ghee. It is a simple dish yet tastes amazing. Also a very popular dish in south india. One of my favorite dishes in vegetarian dishes. I always like to eat the sambar rice with potato chips, makes good combination.

PREPARATION TIME :10 MINUTES
COOKING TIME : 20 MINUTES
SERVES 3-4

INGREDIENTS :

Rice -1cup 
Toor dal -1/2cup 
Onion -1 medium sized 
Tomato  -1 medium sized 
Garlic pods -10
Vegetables -1cup (mixed veggies as per ur wish)
Sambar powder -2tbsp
Turmeric powder  -1/2tsp 
Salt as required 
Ghee -1tsp 

For seasoning:

Oil -1tbsp
Mustard seeds- 1tsp 
Cumin- 1tsp 
Red chilli- 1
Crushed garlic pods -5
Curry leaves.


METHOD :

1. Boil rice and dal till mushy separately

2. Add oil and ghee to a pressure cooker and add sliced onions and garlic.
3. After onion turned brown add tomatoes and saute. 
4. Add turmeric powder and add all the veggies.
5. Saute all the veggies for few minutes. 
6. Now add Sambar powder and saute.
7. Add 1cup of water to the cooker and close the lid for few minutes in medium flame. 
8.after the veggies get cooked nicely, now add salt, boiled rice and dal.
9.mix gently till well combined. 
10. Now in a pan add oil and add things given under seasoning.
11. Pour it to the rice and mix.
12. Now sambhar sadham is ready to serve.!!

Sambar powder, turmeric powder, red chillies

Add oil and ghee in pressure cooker and add onion, crushed garlic.

Add tomatoes 

Add veggies 

Add turmeric powder and sambar powder 

Saute 

Add water and salt. Leave it to boil closing the lid for few minutes.  

Boiled veggies 

Now add boiled rice and dal. 

In a pan add oil, mustard seeds, red chilli, garlic.


Add the seasoning and mix well. Switch off the flame. 

READY to serve..!!
