JANGRI






A big question rises in everyone’s mind after hearing the name “JANGRI”.  Many ppl get confused. What is Jangri? And what is Jilebi? What is the difference between jangri and jilebi? Jangri is made with urad dal, it is a crispy one and it is dipped in sugar syrup. Whereas jilebi is made with maida and soaked in sugar syrup. It is an indian festival  sweet, served during meal. Now coming to the recipe, easy recipe, I tried it. It tastes good. Here is the step wise pictures. Do try it and enjoy diwali….!!

Preparation time: 2 hours
Cooking time: 30 minutes
Serves: 10 -15

What we need:
Urad dal- 1cup
Rice flour- 1tbsp
Salt

For sugar syrup:
Sugar- 1cup
Water- 1/2cup
Food colour-  pinch
Cardamom- 3

Method:
1. Soak urad dal in water for 2 hours.
2. Wash off the urad dal well. Take it in a blender. Add salt and make it as a smooth batter.
3. Now add rice flour and mix.
4. Add a pinch of food colour.
5. Simultaneously, make sugar syrup.  Add sugar in a pan with water.
6. Let it boil for few minutes till it gets one string consistency. Add cardamom and a pinch of food colour. Switch off the flame.
7. Now take a plastic cover. Pour the batter over it. Make a tiny hole.
8. Heat oil in a non stick pan or a heavy bottom pan.
9. Do not over heat oil. Oil must be in medium heat or low heat. Now make jangri in oil.
10. Let it get that crispiness, now take it out and dip it in sugar syrup for 2 minutes.
11. Ready!!

Soak urad dal for 2hours

Take it in sa blender 

Add salt

Grind it as a smooth paste

Add 1tbsp of rice flour 

Take 1 cup of sugar

Add water in sugar and leave it to boil

Take cardamom and crush it.

Add food clour to the batter

Add crushed cardamom in sugar syrup 

Take a plastic cover, fill the batter like this in the pic



Heat oil in medium flame.  Do not over heat, now using the batter draw circles. Take it out when it turns golden colour

Dip into sugar syrup for few minutes 


Serve!!
